As this time of the year approaches, I get all excited about being together with my family on Thanksgiving Day. Some of you may not know, but I have five brothers/sisters and both parents that live south of St. Louis, Mo. This is the time we all try very hard to make it home for my parents to have all six of their children, plus spouses, plus grand and great grandchildren…the rooms fill up fast! But, what joy we all have together, being thankful for yet another year.
This year, however, I will be making my trip north, to Ames, Ia. to be with my daughter, son-in-law, and my grandson, Tucker. Excited as I am to share Tucker’s first Thanksgiving with him, I am a little sad not being with my siblings and parents.
And, what about my husband, Doug, you ask? He unselfishly stays home to serve the homeless a warm hot meal. You see, if he goes, it’s a one day trip, not giving much time for visiting. Again being unselfish to let me stay a little longer…Thankful…I AM.
