Last Sunday, we celebrated the gift of the Holy Spirit – complete with a long piece of red fabric coming down from the ceiling, draping along the cross, and pooling on the floor. Thank you to our Worship Ministry for this vivid reminder of the first Pentecost!
For the next few weeks, we’ll be exploring what it means to be a Spirit driven church. And the Bible has a lot to say on the subject. For instance, in John’s Gospel, Jesus says to the disciples, “I have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.” Knowing his disciples would need guidance after he was no longer with them, Jesus promised he would send the Holy Spirit who would help them understand and interpret their faith after he was gone. And it was a good thing, too, because from the very beginning the Apostles were forced to think on their feet and make decisions when the answers weren’t always written down in black and white.
The first disciples had the Holy Spirit to guide them into truth and faithful living – and so do we! Join us in worship this weekend as we continue to seek the Spirit’s guidance in all things.
